Marymount University's program director for Health Information programs, Dr. Nick Rouse, provided opening remarks to more than 180 participants at the monthly meeting of the National Capital Area (NCA) chapter of the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) at their monthly meeting on March 15 in Arlington, VA. Dr. Rouse focused on the career path for prospective Marymount students seeking certification as Registered Health Information Administrators (RHIA).
The meeting, sponsored by Marymount's Programs in Health Information Management and Technology, explored the rapidly-changing world of Military Health IT and featured a panel of expert military leaders in various health IT roles.
Marymount University's Health Care Management (HCM) faculty and students joined more than 55 participants at the National Capital Healthcare Executives (NCHE) monthly meeting at the Holiday Inn Ballston on March 13. The Marymount-sponsored event focused on Ethical Challenges in Healthcare Leadership.

The HIMSS National Capital Area (NCA) plans to award three scholarships – one for each of the following three degree programs: graduate, undergraduate and associate's level.

Marymount University's Reston Center has partnered with the SkillSource Group to host Microsoft's Elevate America Initiative.
The Skill Source Group, Inc. and the Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Board, in partnership with Microsoft and with assistance from the U.S. Department of Labor in a liaison role is proud to offer U.S. military veterans and their eligible spouses, vouchers for no-cost IT skills training and certification designed to help build the technology skills sought by employers.
Eligible particpants may use the Reston Center's computer labs to participate in the training during the following hours (after March 5):
Mondays 10am-12pm
Wednesdays 1-3pm
